This past weekend we strapped on our ruby reds, clicked our heels three times and hit the yellow brick road to Oz farm in Mendo, CA to celebrate our homie's Nate and Cole's birthdays.
Ease on down the road.
The Oz farm is totally sustainable, organic and off the grid. It was a total retreat for us city kids.
First stop was the main house to see what was cookin'.
Walked around to check out the property and scope out where we were gonna get weird later.
I don't even like tomatoes but these looked amazing.
The most magical place; super secret tree platform.
Delicious apples.
Time for a quick massage train before dinner. Hint: always sit in front.
Pre-game.
Main event. All of the produce that we ate was from the farm.
Buen apetito.
Cake time. Peep the Go Girl getting background props. You go girl!
We wanted to scare everyone so we hid in the dark woods and threw rocks, banged branches and howled. Nobody cared. Everyone was on their own shit, talking to trees, hiding in the grass, falling in the river, casting spells and running in the meadow. THINGS GOT WEIRD.
And if things get to out of hand Robin will hook you up with a mug shot. Thanks Robin.
Not sure you know this, but when you call REBEL8, Ricky answers. This is Ricky with his new lil whip.
And any Burque fam that goes to Rock The Ink from October 8-10, 2010 will be able to buy the limited edition 50/50 signed and numbered Burque flash posters shown on the right. Each poster is $50.00. Go to the show and get what no one else in the world will ever be able to get. The ones on the left are only 25/25 and will be selling exclusively on REBEL8.com Monday, October 11.
See you at the Skullz Press party tonight at Benders.
In case you missed it the first time, here's your chance! Presenting Mike Giant's Americana Tattoo Flash Volume Two. Eight 12" x 18" flash sheets perfect bound. Signed by Mike Giant. It's fucking amazing. You will be stoked. Trust.
Hope to see you at the Skullz Press party on Thursday night at Benders! It's gonna jump off!
9pm - 1am. Bonus schwag for the early birds. Bike race starts at 10pm. I scored some Velocity rims to throw into the prize mix for the bike race. Cash bonus for the winner. It's gonna be gnarly!
I was a latchkey kid growing up and so was Cole. We met when I was about 9 I think. Yesterday he turned 30. It's dope to have people around you that really know you.
This is where my car lives.
The new Contrast magazine showed up at R8HQ. We got some extras. I'll throw a free one in with the next few orders.
Here are a few Mike Giant pages from this issue.
Today is Tuesday in case you forgot. We are getting restocks of the Mike Giant Flash Set #2 soon and some more Burn Bridges Lighters. Could be available in the online shop later today.
Oh yes it's ladies night, and the feelings right, oh what a night. The Rider D.I.Y crew had the most "excellent" time (Bill S. Preston, Esq. voice) at the House of Prime Rib. All you meat eaters in the Bay Area this place is old time and fun, a must do. It's like stepping foot in 1967. For the vegans and veggies out there, I'm sorry. This was indulgence at it's best. Dig in.
We started the night off with a Grey Goose Martini (3 olives). My favorite!
And a few more by the fireplace. When in Rome...
H.O.P.R. Cut all the way. If you finish your first piece, you are offered a second. Unfortunately there was NO WAY I was going there.
Show time.
All the fixins.
Fork lickin' good.
The weather in the city has been gorgeous. Get out there and enjoy it.
Everyone is on the coconut water hype. To get the real deal come to my hood.
And when the going gets tough, get yourself some fresh watermelon margaritas and get the party started (again).
On Saturday I hit cuts and bounced to Mendocino for the homie Nate's birthday weekend at a magical placed call Oz. Stopped in Boonville and ate incredibly well. One of the best sandwiches I've had was this organic beef brisket with pickled onion slaw on home made sourdough bread and Mendocino mustard.
You can't beat Jesus.
Mike signed the rest of these. Last of the last.
Back in SF this morning at Tartine.
Took a stroll Downtown SF right after. The weather is way too nice today.
And to ruin my morning I saw one of the worst adverts in SF. Whoever did the copy on this bullshit is a fucking retard. If Svedka keeps paying for this crap they won't even by around in 2013. Best in 2033!? Fuck you.
This Monday is already way more rad than last. Enjoy!
I just spent this past weekend in Lake Tahoe with my girlfriend Krista and her family. It was her grandfather's 80th birthday, and her dad competed in a bike race around Lake Tahoe. It always feels nice to get outta SF for a few days from time to time.
The first night we were there we hit up Harrah's casino in South Lake Tahoe and I hit the fuckin' jackpot on the slots! Great way to start the weekend!
Saturday morning Krista's father Kirk (who also helps with a lot of REBEL8's freight shipments) had his bike race. Congratulations Kirk!
After the race we walked around the lake and I took some cool photos.
Later that night we devoured this mound of meat! I love some BBQ!
Three years ago to the day I was in Brooklyn visiting my Grandma and Uncle after touching down at JFK from Italy. Thankfully I have seen them a few times since then, but flipping through my iPhoto made me miss them and NYC. My mom is out there now and think I am due for a trip. See you soon New York. I love you.
I got a lot to get to before the weekend. Expect some fun blogs come Monday. Have an amazing Friday!
Please join me at Benders (19th and S. Van Ness) next Thursday September 30th for the return of the Skullz Press Monthly! We'll be rocking out to the sounds of DJ Dietrich from 9pm to 1am. 21+, no cover. PBR specials all night!
Bring a helmet and some lights if you'd like to join the bike race that starts at 10pm! I've got prizes from Mash, REBEL8 and Macaframa. I've also got a cash bonus for the winner. This race is open to any cyclist, fixed or free. It will be a short course one-stop/return race like the last one we did.
I have free posters for the first 20 fiends that get their hands on them. And as usual I'll have a gang of Skullz Press posters available at the event ranging from $10-30. I also have a few Tattoo Flash poster books available for $80. And for you baller mofos, I'll have some hand-tinted prints and originals you can dig through.
Spread the word! Hope to see you there. And thanks!
