Eight Fucking Years

I've been doing this R8 thing for 8 years now. Still own it 100%. Independent as fuck. Started it with just $500 cash. Huge thanks to everyone who helped keep my dream alive by supporting REBEL8. Let my story be inspiration to do whatever you put your mind to. Never defeat yourself and keep that PMA! I love all of you. THANK YOU.

Next Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 10:00AM PST we will be releasing our 8-year anniversary snapback and tee. Don't sleep!

Smørrebrød

A twist on one of the most classic Danish dish.

No fucking way.

As good as it looks.

Collectors are hoarders. Straight up.

Graffiti is big business now.

The good 'ol days.

O, thank heaven.

And thank you Copenhagen! I think I'm gonna catch a flight back home now. It's about time I get back to the city where I'm from.

Woodcock

I was hanging out with my buddy Chris Woodcock last night. He was making long exposure photographs with a 4x5" land camera.

They end up looking like this.

10 years ago he was shooting me in the Dubose Tunnel. Some of you might remember this shot from a previous post.

You can see more of his work here. I think he's amazing.

Age Of Quarrel

This video is for all the streetwear brands out there that having been jocking the scene I've been a part of for more than half my life. This shit was around long before you, and will be here long after you're gone. Making a Cro-Mags rip off shirt does not make you hardcore. Real recognize real.

København

Back in Copenhagen, took a long walk this morning.

Went to the Round Tower. A little hard to tell from this photo, but the architecture was and still is amazing. A consistent aggressive grade continues for what feels like eternity.

Close to the top I found my perspective.

In one of the little rooms off the rotunda, I saw this gold medal with a penny-farthing on it. You may have seen the one we have predominantly displayed at R8HQ in various photos on the blog.

Every time I see a penny-farthing I think of this.

I then read about the race for this particular gold medal. "For Riding up the Round Tower in 3 Minutes, 15/6-88". AWESOME!

One floor below I visited the museum. This one was called, I think, "Everything I Ever Read".

Total bookworm.

And then I saw the longest table. I couldn't even approximate how long it is. 100-feet?

I looked outside (again).

Hard to tell from the photo above, but the windows facing this courtyard are all offices. The juxtaposition of suits in suits working at 9AM and then these two guys; pretty, pretty, pretty cool.

Back inside with the rich people, I sat in this little room for a long time watching a video of just writing out words the old school way. It reminded me a lot of Giant and our approach to most things we do: using our hands to do the work and create. Yes, if you don't know by now, unlike 99.9% of the clothing companies you see, we draw this shit by hand. Sharpie to paper. Straight up. Fuck a computer.

I do love mason jars.

Lets take a closer look, shall we?

Enjoy today. But understand it's about that time of the season when inventory is selling out. Get it before you regret it.

Burr

Ever since I learned of the Icebar I've been wanting to go. It was one of my definite to-dos in Copenhagen. The concept is simple, everything is made out of ice.

Upon entering the bar I'm greeted by this sweet RR.

The Icebar's bar.

The drink menu was cool and all, but in these conditions I went straight vodka. And let me tell you, good vodka in a glass made of ice is amazing.

Smart.

Icy chandelier.

I really loved the cracks and imperfections of the ice.

A job well done.

You got tips.

I found the mannequin in the lobby quite fitting of the frigid temperatures as well.

Let me give you a quick heads up if you plan on visiting an icebar. First off, expect to only be comfortable for about 30-minutes. Drinking alchohol helps a lot. And it ain't cheap. But it was totally worth it.

Making A Scene

I cannot wait to check out this book. The New York Hardcore scene has without a doubt had the biggest impact on my life musically. So many amazing bands came out of NYC in this time period. For more information on the book, visit the website. Mine is on its way right now. Full review coming soon.
