Cuy

Today is a good day. This is just steps from my hotel.

11,200 feet above sea level. Beautiful.

Didn't eat here, but it looks pretty damn cool.

Peep the doors.

Cusco has alleys for days. Crazy to know people hundreds of years ago walked these very same original streets.

Church!

Really feelin' Cusqueña cerveza.

Do you know what animal this is? I'll give you a hint. Your elementary school class probably had one as a pet. Maybe you did as well. Yup! It's a guinea pig. All quartered up ready for consumption.

And let me tell you, cuy (pronounced "koo-ee") AKA guinea pig, is off the fucking chain mang.

Have a blessed day! Spread that 8.

Cusco

Just landed on one of the craziest runways in the world. Dodging mountains for the entire descent.

Got swooped by car service.

Cruisin' Peru.

Finally arrived at the hotel.

And this is the first sign I see. Welcome?

Now to adjust to living at 3.5 miles above sea level. Happy Tuesday!

Bouncing To Cusco

Bouncing to Cusco today. Not much of a selection at the Lima airport.

I chose their version of our beloved Egg McMuffin.

My other option was "Black Hands," for "Oriental" food.  Not racist at all.

What not to bring.

Passed the point of no return.

Sky high.

Happy Monday!

Prosegur

Mini sound systems. Everywhere. You thought the one you had growing up had beat? Nigga please.

Out here in these Lima streets.

Don't do drugs.

The rim shop.

Fancy.

The buses down here are a trip. Just dudes rollin' doors open mang.

Dead broke.

If you buy this Porsche I sure hope you can peel out through the glass.

On every block I hit there were security watch towers on the corners. Sketchy.

Some chick works inside there. Every. Single. Day. Of her life. As you sit wherever you are reading the words I am typing, smile. Your life does not suck.

These dudes got South America on lock.

Hope you've bought your Summer '12 merch. I love you!

Dead Embryonic Cells

It does not get any heavier than this. I saw Sepultura for the first time in 1994 opening for Pantera on the "Far Beyond Driven" tour and I've been hooked ever since.

Lorraine's Pool

For the last few months my friend Tim has been hitting me up to skate some backyard pools with him. Usually he only gives me 10 minutes notice and I can't go, but he called on Saturday and we were able to arrange a mission on Sunday. He picked me up in his truck and we drove about an hour out of town to ride this pool.

An 80 year old lady named Lorraine owns the house. She's cool as shit. I guess a friend of Tim's asked her if it would be cool to skate her pool and she was down. She just asks that everyone wear a helmet. How fresh is that? I was psyched!

It was the first Blue Haven Pool I've ever ridden. I've heard about Blue Haven Pools since the 80s. They're legendary in skateboarding circles.

It had a great Marlin mosaic.

And I love these wheel marks in one of the shallow end pockets.

Peter "Kiwi" Gifford met us there. He's 52 years old and he's been skating pools since 1979. He dropped into the deep end like it was nothing.

My man Tim lives to skate pools and he killed this one. I have to learn these kickstand roll-ins he was doing.

He ripped through these backside carving 50-50s.

Frontside over the steps.

He really knew how to work the shallow end.

How about rock'n'rolls in the deep end?

Backside over the deathbox?

Tim killed that shit. I had a great time! Hope we can do it again soon.

La Playa

Took some incredibly long walks down here in Lima. One of them took me here.

But not down there.

Chicharroneria delivery.

Street art.

Dope.

I guess a bunch of parked bikes should look like a car?

This dish is called the "simple". I saw quite a few people eating it, so I gave it a shot. It's basically fried chicken, a "salad" with white stuff, french fries and fried bologna. Oh, the red stuff. Well I think it's not blood/ketchup. I honestly can't even describe it. No clue. "Red stuff".

I'll keep blogging away all this week. Happy Monday! I suggest you click here.
